Week 6 Fantasy Advise

Week 6 fantasy advice:

Start ‘em
If you’re looking for a solid wide receiver to start in week 6, especially if you are in a points-per-reception league, Wes Welker is a solid choice. The Patriots are looking to prove themselves after a week 5 loss as they play the winless Tennessee Titan team with a weak defense. The Titans are 31st in the league in giving up passing yards per game, averaging 286 yards per game allowed. They have also given up the second-most touchdowns this season.
As much as the defense Welker is facing is a good reason to start him, Welker and the Patriots could convince fantasy owners to start the Pats wide receiver. Welker is playing healthy again, after missing weeks three and four. He is averaging nine catches per game this season, and he gives Brady a safe completion option. In the three games he has played, he has averaged 75 yards per game. Welker is also second in receiving yards on a Patriot team that is looking for other receiving options other than Randy Moss, who only has one touchdown this season despite starting all games this season.

Jets running back Thomas Jones should have a strong showing in week 6, facing the Buffalo Bills Sunday. The jets are ranked 4th in total rushing yards this season, trying to take some of the pressure off of rookie QB Mark Sanchez. While Jones is sharing carries with Leon Washington, he has the only Jets rushing touchdowns besides one by Sanchez. He is their red zone rushing focus this season.
It is just as likely that the Bills defense will defeat themselves this week, especially against the run. They are giving up an average of about 150 yards per game on the ground against some pass-oriented teams such as the Patriots and Saints. The Bills are also tied for 2nd in rushing touchdowns allowed this season.

Sit ‘em
If you have depth at wide receiver, one solid receiver that you may want to bench this weekend is the New Orleans saints receiver Marques Colston. Despite the strong Saints offense, Colston hasn’t had a touchdown catch since week 3. Drew Brees is one of the elite quarterbacks, but has been distributing the ball to many receiving options, including TE Jeremy Shockey and Saints receiving yard leader Devry Henderson.
The Saints are also facing their toughest defensive opponent in the New York Giants. The Giants have only allowed 4 touchdowns all season, while pressuring the quarterbacks and collecting 14 sacks to date. No team has given up fewer passing yards this season allowing only 524 yards this season. The closest team is the Carolina Panthers with 663 yards. On top of these strong stats in the Giants’ favor, they have also given up the fewest first downs of any NFL team.

So far this year, the Baltimore Ravens have been riding their defensive reputation, but certainly not living up to their legacy, so they are not a strong option as a starting defense this week. They are giving up 238 yards per game through the air and allowing an average on 27 points per game this season. Last week Cedric Benson had success against Baltimore, gaining 120 yards rushing.
The Ravens defense will be facing a hot Minnesota Vikings team that can beat teams on the ground and through the air. Brett Favre is second in the league in passing touchdowns with nine touchdowns while only throwing two interceptions. If the Vikings stay on the ground, Peterson can put up big numbers, with seven rushing touchdowns in 481 yards so far this season, which is second in the league.
