Carolina Panthers-Experts Predict 8.5 wins
The scheduling Gods certainly did not make things easy for the NFC South. Out of the Panthers 16 games 15 had at least 500. record last year.
Starting week 7 Carolina has a much improved Buffalo team at home, then flies to the west coast to play the NFC champs in a rematch of a NFC division playoff game from last year in which Carolina got destroyed. Then flies back to the east coast to play in the Super Dome vs. the Saints. Then hosts their division rivals against Atlanta week 10, and the plays a Thursday night game vs. Miami on short rest. This is a brutal stretch for any team, never mind an old team. I don’t think it was a fluke that Jake Delhomme played poorly last year; I thought it was a fluke when he had good seasons.
If your defense can stop the run, the Panthers will be shut down. Six of the 16 games Carolina play defenses were ranked in the top ten last year. Delhomme is too old, and doesn’t have the goods to carry this team on his back. Guru goes with the under in a lock
